I want to start by telling you the purpose of this blog. I am by no means a great or even good writer, but I am a mom – a Christian mom who cares what our kids are watching on television. As with most American homes we have a television in our house. We used to have cable T.V. but after hearing a sermon by Paul Washer I was convicted of what my priorities were and what I was letting into my home. There is so much garbage on TV and yet so many Christians watch it. Why? If the Lord came back right now, what would He find on your television? We no longer have cable and we are very selective on what we let our child watch. This brings me to the purpose of this blog. As I watch movies I will post a review. The reviews will be based on one thing. What does the movie contain that is offensive to God.
“As the twig is bent, so goes the tree.” I am sure many of you are familiar with this saying. We are to raise our children the way we want them to be when they are grown. Do you want your children to think pre-marital sex is okay? Then why do you sit and watch shows like “Friends” or “Sex in the City”? God commands us “Though shall not commit adultery”. Do you want your children to think it is okay to disobey and disrespect you? Then let them watch movies like Rugrats and Free Willy. God commands “Honor thy Father and thy Mother.”Do you want your children to believe in evolution and not God our Creator? Sit your children down and let them watch The Land Before Time.
“A little leaven leaveneth the whole lump.” Galatians 5:9. For those of you who think “These movies are not that bad. Big deal if there is one scene where the son yells at the father.” Or the best one yet, “The kids don’t understand the joke, it’s for the adults.” Why do children’s movies need to contain unclean adult jokes? Kids are much more intelligent than we give them credit for and even if they don’t understand yet, they will. Children learn very quickly when watching movies, they will learn what they watch. I will support this with future posts.
So, do you know what your children are really watching?
(Movie reviews will be listed alphabetically on the right hand side under categories.)
